YIELD TO CHRIST’S LEADING TO AVOID THE DEVIL’S BAIT.

“Put on the full armour of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.” Ephesians 6:11

The devil is a wily foe! And there is not enough physical or mental strength to contend with his cunning tricks. It takes the spiritual strength of one grounded in the Living Word to identify his tricks for what they are. Irrespective of the method he uses, the devil’s aim is clear – to break your communion with God and cut off your dependence upon Him. One of his most common traps – which most of us encounter on an almost daily basis – is offence. The major challenge is that when we get offended, we hardly realise how trapped we are!

But remember – no one knows you better than you know yourself. If you discover the peace of heart and internal joy Christ promised His followers has started seeping out of your daily life and decisions, take time to examine yourself. Are you harbouring offence in your heart? Is your spirit free? People of God, stop making it easy for the devil!

Be encouraged by this powerful quotable quotes by anointed servants of God -:

“Hurt happens, forgiveness is the best choice, so choose forgiveness.” Pastor Tim Coop, Pantano Christian Church, USA. May 2003

“Hurt happens, it is the devil’s bait, so don’t take it” Pastor Glen Elliott, Pantano Christian Church, USA. May 2003

“You will receive in a moment what you have been seeking for years when you let go of offence!” Prophet TB Joshua, SCOAN Nigeria.

“Let go and let God be God in every moment of your life for victory” Pastor Tim Coop, Pantano Christian Church, USA. June 2006

PRAYER: My heart is the prayer room. LORD, speak to my heart; let me hear Your voice! Help me to let go of offence that I may be sensitive to the leading of Your Spirit – in the mighty name of Jesus Christ!

JESUS’ FOCUS!

“All a man’s ways seem innocent to him, but motives are weighed by the Lord.” Proverbs 16:2

Most of us live our lives so focused on how we are doing, how we are feeling and how we are treated but do we ever take time to stop and consider what Jesus’ focus is? We know God by the Word He speaks and His Word represents His heart’s desire. A look at God’s words will not take you long to realise that what He is looking at is most often not what we are looking at!

➡️ In a shepherd boy, he saw a king (1 Samuel 16:7)
➡️ In a convicted criminal, he saw a heart to change (Luke 23:43)
➡️ In a few pennies of the widow’s mite, he saw a true act of worship (Mark 12:41)

That is because Jesus’ focus is the motive behind what we do – that is why He tests our hearts to reward us. So don’t be too quick to rejoice, to condemn, to criticise the actions of others because Jesus is interested in the motivation of our heart. It is time to examine your own motives. Why do you do what you do? Do you talk to be seen, walk to be noticed, give to be praised?

PRAYER – Ask God to give you a heart that is pure, a heart that does not bear grudges, a heart that is simple and sincere, not a rebellious heart – in the mighty name of Jesus Christ!

ONLY TODAY IS YOURS

“Therefore God again set a certain day, calling it Today, when a long time later he spoke through David, as was said before: ‘Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts.’ ”

Hebrews 4:7
Can you hear God’s voice today? Or is your heart so full of yesterday’s pain and tomorrow’s uncertainty? It is only in the present you can enjoy the gift of God. Only today is yours.

If you examine your life, you will see that all the worries, concerns and anxiety you had about tomorrow did not actually come to pass.

How much time do you waste in worrying so you cannot live in the present?

Yesterday is history, today is opportunity while tomorrow is mystery.

But how many of us trapped by past pain and gripped by anxiety of future uncertainty are truly able to grasp the opportunity of today?

Only today is yours. What will you do with this moment?

Will you listen to the voice of God – the voice of love, the voice of freedom, the voice of hope, saying?

“Now is the day of salvation!” (2 Cor 6:2).

Love frees us in the present.

Learn to live today.

THE UNSEEN ANSWER TO YOUR PRAYER

“God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?” Numbers 23:19, NIV

Do you ever take time to stop and reflect on the faithfulness of God, to meditate on how He has answered your prayers? You cannot separate God from His will, promises and time. The prayers of many years are never lost. They will come back to you a hundred-fold at God’s appointed time. Many have even come back to you but because you have forgotten the prayer you offered, the answer appears unseen.

Are you tempted to doubt God’s goodness towards you? Listen to Joshua who assured the Israelites that they had seen every one of God’s promises fulfilled (Joshua 23:15).

Are you questioning if God hears your prayer? Learn from Daniel who as soon as he began to pray, an answer was given (Daniel 9:23).

Are you conditioning God by expecting the answer to your prayer to come in a particular way? Ask Simeon and he will tell you that the answer to his prayer came in a way he never imagined (Luke 2:25-29).

Prayer is an acknowledgement that there is a superior realm that controls the physical and invisible world. God always answers the prayer of faith yet He doesn’t always answer in the letter. Although it may appear unseen, begin to thank God for a more glorious answer to your prayer than you could ever imagine.

THE REAL STRENGTH

“That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” 2 Corinthians 12:10 NIV

Oftentimes, God works through the circumstances of life – your difficulty, sickness, disease, affliction, setback, attack for you to see His position. If we rely on our natural strength, it will one day let us down. Where does the strength come from to see the race to an end? It comes from within.

The world may see strength in force, in dominance, in always winning. But my Saviour taught me to look at life the other way round – that the greatest strength is in surrendering to God, going the path of humility and self-denial.

Some of us think holding on makes us strong but sometimes it is letting go. True strength is to forgive all. To love from the heart. To dishonour ourselves so that Christ may be honoured.

True humility is not weakness – but strength. Unless we are humble, we will not bow to God or seek Him for assistance (James 4:1). It is not a matter of combining our strength with God’s strength but a total and complete removal of our strength to put on God’s own.

Then like Apostle Paul, you can say, “When I am weak, then I am strong”.

THE LORD GOD ALMIGHTY IS ABLE.

“And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.” 2 Corinthians 9:8

For 400 years, the children of Israel cried out to God for freedom. But when He finally delivered them out of Egypt, they could not get the Egypt out of them.

They had forgotten how to live in freedom. Pharaoh had dominated every aspect of their lives. He controlled where they worked, what they ate, where they lived, and even whether their children lived or died.

After God destroyed Egypt with the plagues, He led the Israelites out of the land. But three days into the wilderness, the children of Israel began to complain. After all the miracles they had witnessed, they began to question: Can God bring us water in the desert? Can God keep us from starving? Can God give us meat?

Have we, like the Israelites, been delivered from Egypt but still hold on to the Egypt inside of us? Do we still question His ability to deliver, to provide, and to satisfy us?

Know, with complete confidence, that God is able. He has overwhelmed us with grace, supplied all of our needs, and has equipped us to do good works. Can God? Yes, He can. God can heal your body. God can restore your marriage. God can mend your broken heart. He is able to do beyond what you can even imagine! Thanks be to God for His unspeakable gifts!

LET’S PRAY
Heavenly Father, by Your Divine Mercy and Favour open my heart to Your Word for inspiration and revelation to appreciate and trust You always that You are more than able to carry me through all life’s challenges in Jesus Name.

DIVINE ASSIGNMENT

And he called the name of the place Massah, and Meribah, because of the chiding of the children of Israel, and because they tempted the Lord, saying, Is the Lord among us, or not? Then came Amalek, and fought with Israel in Rephidim. Exodus 17:7-8

This proclaims the fact that the smitten Rock, which gushed forth with a river of water, was not brought down because of the Righteousness and Holiness of the people, but strictly because of the Grace of God; however, for the Believer to stay on a wrong path of unbelief will ultimately bring total destruction.

The reception of the Holy Spirit, symbolised by the Smitten Rock pouring out life-giving water, immediately causes war. “Then came Amalek, and fought with Israel.” Up to this point, God had fought for them. Israel was to stand still and see His Salvation; but the Command now is to go out and fight.

There is an immense difference between Justification and Sanctification. The one is Christ fighting FOR us; the other, the Holy Spirit fighting IN us. The entrance of the new nature is the beginning of warfare with the old.

Amalek pictures the old nature. He was the grandson of Esau, who, before and after birth, tried to murder Jacob, and preferred the mess of pottage to the birthright. This carnal nature wars against the Spirit. “It is not subject to the Law of God, neither indeed can be”; and God has decreed war against it forever.

The only way that “Amalek,” i.e., the flesh, can be defeated is by the Believer ever placing his Faith in the “Smitten Rock,” i.e., “But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.” Gal. 6:14. Otherwise there is no victory! “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.” Gal. 2:20-21

LET’S PRAY
Heavenly Father, by Your Divine Mercy and Favour open my heart to Your Word for revelation and direction concerning my now and future in Jesus Name.

HE ALWAYS GIVE DIRECTION WHEN WE CALL UNTO HIM

And Moses cried unto the Lord, saying, What shall I do unto this people? they be almost ready to stone me. And the Lord said unto Moses, Go on before the people, and take with thee of the elders of Israel; and thy rod, wherewith thou smotest the river, take in thine hand, and go. Behold, I will stand before thee there upon the rock in Horeb; and thou shalt smite the rock, and there shall come water out of it, that the people may drink. And Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel. Exodus 17:4-6

One of the most prominent traits of the character of Moses is that, at the occurrence of a difficulty, he always carried it straight to God.

It seems strange that God, Who professed to love them should lead Israel into a desert, both foodless and waterless. But love led them there that they might learn the desperate unbelief of their own hearts and the unfailing faithfulness of God’s Heart. Only in a desert reveal what He can be to those who trust Him; for only there was Israel dependent upon Him for everything. Without God – nothing; with God – everything.

The water from the Smitten Rock foretold the Living Water, the Holy Spirit, to be sent forth by the Smitten Saviour. The Holy Spirit was shed forth as the fruit of Christ’s Sacrifice “and drank the same spiritual drink; for they drank from the spiritual rock that accompanied them, and that rock was Christ” 1 Cor 10:4. The Rock was smitten by the very same rod of judgement that smote the land of Egypt.

The “Rock” was a Type of Christ being smitten by God “Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.” Isaiah 53: 4, which was done at the Cross, and which brought forth Eternal Life at least for all who will believe. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3: 16

The fact of the Cross guaranteed the payment of all sin, past, present and future, the giving of Eternal Life, and the advent of the Holy Spirit in a new dimension, at least for all who will. In fact, Christ, the Cross, our Faith, and the Holy Spirit constitute the basis of Christianity. Read Galatians Chapter 5.

LET’S PRAY
Heavenly Father, by Your Divine Mercy and Favour open my spiritual eyes and ears in Your Word to build my Faith to trust You always. Open my heart for understanding Your Word for revelation and inspiration concerning my life, ministry and current situation in the glorious name of Jesus Christ.

BENEDICTION
May the God of HOPE fill you with all JOY and PEACE in believing, so that by the POWER of the Holy Spirit you may abound in HOPE. May you have Faith in Christ and what He did at the Cross be established, well grounded with His peace and tranquility by all means. 😇

TRUST THE LORD COMPLETELY

And Moses said, Eat that today; for today is a sabbath unto the Lord: today ye shall not find it in the field. Six days ye shall gather it; but on the seventh day, which is the sabbath, in it there shall be none. And it came to pass, that there went out some of the people on the seventh day for to gather, and they found none. Exodus 16:25-27

Man has little heart for God’s rest. His nature is bad. He can neither rest with, nor work for, God. If God makes a rest for him, he will not keep it; and if God tells him to work, he will not do it. In this Chapter, Israel at least to a certain degree refuse the Sabbath as a gift.

The Sabbath, the day of rest, here suddenly reappears after a silence of more than 2,000 years. Redemption being accomplished, the Sabbath a gift to Israel.

The Sabbath was to be a day of “rest,” symbolising the “rest” which one finds in Christ, and only in Christ. Hence He says “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Mat. 11:28.

Since the”Sabbath” is only a symbol of the “rest” that one finds in Christ, once the reality had come, the symbolism is no longer needed. Hence, the strict observance of this ritual was not carried over into the New Covenant. And yet, when one accepts Christ, following Him by placing one’s Faith entirely in Christ and the Cross, this is the same as “keeping the Sabbath,” because the Sabbath prefigured Christ and the Rest. Hebrews 4

LET’S PRAY
O Lord, by Your Divine Mercy and Favour open the ears of my heart to Your Word with clear understanding for inspiration and revelation concerning my situation to do Your Will in Jesus Name.

And the very God of peace SANCTIFY you (me ….) WHOLLY; and I pray God your WHOLE spirit and soul and body be preserved BLAMELESS unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Faithful is he that calleth you (me …), who also will DO it.

DEVELOP YOUR APPETITE FOR HEAVENLY THINGS ONLY

And it came to pass, that at even the quails came up, and covered the camp: and in the morning the dew lay round about the host. And when the dew that lay was gone up, behold, upon the face of the wilderness there lay a small round thing, as small as the hoar frost on the ground. And when the children of Israel saw it, they said one to another, It is manna: for they wist not what it was. And Moses said unto them, This is the bread which the Lord hath given you to eat. Exodus 16:13-15

The mention of the “dew” in this manner implies that, which looked like dew was, in part, dew, but not wholly so. The next verse explains it to a greater degree.

The Manna prefigured the descent of the True Bread, of which if a man eat he shall live forever ” I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.” John 6:51. It was a test of appetite and obedience. In Egypt, Israel had slave food; in the desert, Angel’s food. The test quickly revealed that the natural man has no appetite for Heavenly things. The people soon called it “light food.”

The Manna was so precious that it could not bear contact with the earth. It fell upon the dew and had to be gathered ere the sun was up, and freshly every morning. Yesterday’s Manna did not do for today, nor today’s for tomorrow (Numbers 9). Thus the Christian feed upon Christ every day, as He reveals Himself in the Scriptures. “And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it.” Luke 9:23-24

Israel in the desert presents a striking picture! Egypt behind them, Canaan before them, the wilderness around them and the Manna above them. They were a Heaven-born people and a Heaven-bound people; they ate Heaven-baked Bread.

In looking back toward Egypt, they murmured; when looking forward toward the Wilderness, they saw the Glory of the Lord.

Jesus as the Bread of Life, and He alone is, can only be had by virtue of the Cross. As l have repeatedly stated, Christ is the Source, while the Cross is the means. Read Ephesians 1.

LET’S PRAY
